Privacy Policy
Last updated: 26 May 2026
Your privacy matters. Here is what Law Lenz collects, why, and what control you have over it.
Plain English. No buried clauses. No selling your data.
1. Who we are
Law Lenz Limited (NZBN: 9429051838539) is a New Zealand company providing employment law training, education and coaching for New Zealand employers, HR professionals and managers. Sanam Permal is the director and primary contact. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “Law Lenz” mean Law Lenz Limited.

2. Our approach
We comply with the Privacy Act 2020 and the thirteen Information Privacy Principles. Three commitments guide everything we do with your information:
- Transparency. We explain plainly what we collect and why.
- Control. You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you.
- Security. We protect your information with sensible technical and organisational safeguards.
We will never sell your personal information.
3. What we collect
3.1 Information you give us
- Your name, email address, phone number, business name and role.
- Anything you choose to share when you book a clarity call, send us a message, attend a workshop, enrol in a course or use ER coaching.
- Payment details, processed through our payment provider. We do not store your full card number on our own systems.
- Any feedback or testimonials you submit.
3.2 Information we collect automatically
When you visit our website, we collect your IP address, browser type, device type and operating system, the pages you visit, your time on site, and the referring URL. We also collect cookies and similar tracking data. See clause 5.
3.3 Sensitive information
We do not generally collect health, ethnicity, religious or other sensitive information. If something sensitive comes up in a coaching conversation, for example a health-related performance issue you are managing, we treat it with extra care and only use it for the purpose you raised it.
4. Why we collect it
- To deliver our services: workshops, courses, ER coaching and clarity calls.
- To respond to your enquiries and bookings.
- To process payments and issue invoices.
- To send you updates about new episodes, services and resources, where you have opted in.
- To improve the website and our services.
- To meet our legal and professional obligations.
If we ever want to use your information for a materially different purpose, we will ask you first.
5. Cookies and tracking
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember your preferences, and understand how visitors use our content. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Some site features may not work properly if you disable them.
We use:
- Strictly necessary cookies, set by our website provider Systeme.io, to keep the site working.
- Functional cookies that remember your preferences.
- Analytics cookies that help us understand how visitors use the site, aggregated and not used to identify you.
We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles about you, and we do not share your information with data brokers. Some third-party content we embed, for example a Spotify podcast player, may set its own cookies. We do not control those.
6. Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with trusted providers who help us run the business:
- Systeme.io, which hosts our website and runs our forms, email and CRM.
- The payment processor Systeme.io uses to handle card payments.
- Government, regulatory or law enforcement agencies, where the law requires us to disclose.
Some of these providers are based overseas. Where they are, we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is held to a comparable standard of protection, consistent with Information Privacy Principle 12.
7. Coaching session confidentiality
Information you share with Sanam in an ER coaching session or clarity call is confidential. We do not share it with any third party unless:
- You give us permission;
- The law requires us to disclose it, for example a court order; or
- Sanam’s professional obligations as a lawyer require disclosure.
ER coaching is training, education and coaching, not legal representation. Legal professional privilege does not automatically attach to coaching content. If your situation needs privileged legal advice, Sanam will tell you and refer you appropriately.
8. How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, or as the law requires. As a guide:
- Enquiry and clarity call records: up to 3 years from your last contact with us.
- Workshop, course and coaching records: up to 7 years from the end of the engagement, consistent with NZ tax record-keeping requirements.
- Marketing email subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.
- Website analytics data: typically up to 26 months.
After these periods, we securely delete or de-identify the information.
9. Storage and security
We store your information on systems based in New Zealand or in other jurisdictions with comparable privacy protections. We use technical and organisational measures, including encryption, access controls and trusted vendors, to keep it safe. Sanam is the only person with day-to-day access to coaching session notes.
No system is perfectly secure. If we ever have a privacy breach likely to cause serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, as the Privacy Act 2020 requires.
10. Your rights under the Privacy Act 2020
You have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you (Information Privacy Principle 6).
- Ask us to correct any information that is wrong or out of date (Information Privacy Principle 7).
- Ask us to delete information, subject to legal or contractual obligations.
- Withdraw consent for marketing emails any time, using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us.
- Complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner if you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information. Contact details: privacy.org.nz.
To exercise any of these rights, email ask@lawlenz.co.nz. We will respond within 20 working days, as the Privacy Act 2020 requires.
11. Children’s privacy
Our services are for employers, HR professionals and managers, not children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will always make the most current version available on this page, with the “Last updated” date at the top. If you are subscribed to our list, we will tell you by email about material changes.
